-PATCH- They’re pissing on my parade

By admin in : Druidism, Euphemism // Nov 22 2010

World of Warcraft Client Patch 4.0.3a
The latest patch notes can be found at

Let’s start with the minor inconveniences

It always makes things look less dramatic.

  • Thorns damage has been reduced by 60%.
Mmmkay, but doesnt _really_ make a huge difference, apart from perhaps initial aggro for our bear colleagues. Not exactly breaking news affecting us trees.
  • Symbiosis: heal-over-time spells (Rejuvenation, Regrowth, Lifebloom) can no longer benefit from this Mastery merely by refreshing themselves. A different heal-over-time spell must be present.
Ideally, you would want more than one HoT up on a target of which Symbiosis would benefit most at all times. It’s not a total sacriledge, but just slightly peppers up the mastery technique.
Now, onto the crying sceance
  • Rejuvenation has had its mana cost increased by 30%.
Slight increase in mana cost will be noticeable when raidhealing as we are still limited to only 2-3 raidhealing spells.
  • Efflorescence now has a diminished effect when healing more than 6 players at once.
I know, it sucks. But common, we all knew something was meant to be done to AoE healing. Besides, the grass ain’t greener on the other side of the fence, every healer will see his/her numbers decrease. So, rest assured, we are not directly affected by a nerf versus other healing classes.
  • Revitalize is now a 2-point talent, down from 3. It provides a 20% chance to return 1/2% of the druid’s total mana on periodic heals from Lifebloom or Rejuvenation. This effect cannot occur more than once every 12 seconds.
This hurts and makes me one very sad panda *pouts*. Blizzard implied they wanted mana regen to feel like a holy priest at 85, I haven’t played one but I doubt it compares. This change will affect our mana regeneration dramatically as it comes down to a serious decrease in revitalize procs, equal to a +/- 66% nerf from returning 24% of our total mana pool to roughly only 8%.
Keeping good things last…
  • Nourish no longer consumes Omen of Clarity.
  • Empowered Touch now procs from Healing Touch as well as Nourish.
  • Malfurion’s Gift no longer has Fury of Stormrage as a prerequisite talent.
Ah, bliss. I might actually consider taking this talent now, instead of mindlessly discarding it like Nagrands infamous Talbuk nutriments.
  • Natural Shapeshifter now also increases Tree of Life duration by 5/10 seconds.
Adding 10 seconds to Tree of Life shapeshift really compares the sprinkles and the cream on our HoT cocoa. Not because we were waiting for 10 more seconds of instant regrowth spam and mana starvations of any kind, but because the talent now actually has some kind of use for the tree it is located in. Win.
  • Swift Rejuvenation is now a 1-point talent, down from 2. The global cooldown reduction this talent provides to Rejuvenation remains 0.5 seconds.
Well it is always a nice bit of love to get one extra talent point to spend (and one from the Revitalize revamp), don’t you think? It might even be that ONE point you seemed to miss out on in order to build your ultimate master spec of awesomeness. You never know, life flows in mysterious ways.
  • Glyph of Healing Touch now reduces the cooldown on Nature’s Swiftness by 10 seconds after using Healing Touch, up from 5 seconds.
  • Glyph of the Treant (new) allows druids to keep the original treant Tree of Life look.
For all those nostalgic little tree-sods out there who have been petitioning over the loss of their “cute” avatar -that no one could stand when it was first introduced. *gets the hankie out and starts sobbing uncontrollably, again*. It’s still there, now get over it 🙂

That’s about it! And I’m not pleased, but we all have motives for moaning and groaning, I think they have been pissing on everyone’s parade with the upcoming patch. So hey, chin up, our world is being blown to smithereens soon! Cheers.

The Nourish/OoC proc isn’t really a good thing, personally I believe it’s a big fail on Blizzards end..

If you, as a Restoration Druid, were using Nourish to consume an OoC proc then you aren’t using your brain… simple as that

this change makes good druids be good and awesome druids just lost a chance to be more awesome.. Mana management nerf #1

If you consider all the other major nerfs we are facing spell and talentwise, I don’t think pulling Nourish out of the OoC trigger is necessarily a bad thing. It’s just a game play adjustment for the better and the lazy and because not every tree has nearly six years of healing experience. You’ll come to find there’s many who actually still think “Nourish, whot is?” because they STILL have too much mana at this moment in time.
The spell costs so little mana that any self respecting resto would never consume an OoC-proc for it anyway. Adding Malfurion’s gift to our base talent spec and slightly changing the way Symbiosis works, already requires one more brain cell. Upping Rejuv cost and fully taking away blanketing the raid, another one. And we all know what happens when a certain class exceeds the basic brain cell requirement, people start nagging and pouting.
So meh, bleh, boo, I don’t really care about “ego” nerfs as much as I care about being mana starved. Every change towards a better mana management, is a good one. When we are going to wish we could scratch mana out of our arses on a 5+minute fight, we’ll all be happy we didn’t accidently waste an OoC proc on a random Nourish cast we just.couldn’
