Project Vanilla: Azeroth v0.1

By admin in : Patriotism // Oct 31 2010

Our Azeroth is being blown to smithereens and I blame you. You might not have been the initiator of this inevitable catastrophe, but you are a part of the community that caused it. That makes you guilty as charged, one way or another!
With Cataclysm being announced, we will soon be facing a trail of ruin and devastated landscapes. Deserted cities, demolished and scattered, lurking in the shadows of the glory and pride they once were, with yet another corner of civilization gone. Forests charred to ashes, dark alcoves buried deep under the debris and nothing but new monstrosities emerging from underground caves. Odds are that whatever you are going to stumble upon first, is going to want your scalp as a trophy.

As exciting as all of this may sound, the quests, the scenery and the story; they’re all sutured into the theme of our old Azeroth. We had an entire planet that we forgot about while fighting the forces of the Lich King in Northrend and in a few weeks, little of it will be left.

Well. I don’t know about you, but I would like to keep some substantial evidence of my roots in Azeroth. That is why I have been burying myself in lore the past week, spending most of my time walking down memory lane. But I came to realize that it’s quite lonely out there on my own. And I would love it, if you’d all share your brains with me for a brief bit.

I am looking for all kinds of media depicting “ye Olde Azeroth” in its most unique beauty.
Whether these are fraps flying around on the gryphon at sunset, climbing the peeks of Ironforge for an exclusive full moon shot or screenshots of the events at the gates of Ahn Qiraj. It would be amazing if we could collect all the visual memorabilia and store it before apocalypse hits with the release of Cataclysm in December.
Because you know, after all, you WILL want to show this to your offspring at some point in the future! 🙂

So basically what I am looking for:

  • Screenshots, pictures, artwork of Azeroth. Try to exclude the plain scenery pics. Ultimately, I would love a collection of funny, witty and interesting pictures that were taken “at the right place, at the right time”. I could just do my usual Google fu, but it wouldn’t be half as entertaining using content from people we don’t even know.
  • video’s, frapswork, recordings
  • essays and/or personal stories (leave out the general lore, I still have 15 piles of prints of those on my desk to power through)
  • Funny anecdotes, stories about endless attunement chains
  • Memories, musings, contemplations, complaints, moments of pride and laughter you would like to share

This “Project Vanilla” (yes I know, how very original!) will appear on my blog shortly after Cataclysm release. Obviously, everything you send in will be credited in my post with your name (please make sure to include your info in the mail) and if I am really impressed by your contribution, I will most likely write you a personalized thank you message on my blog.

It would be a nice goodbye to Azeroth v.1, don’t you think? I’d love to hear from you!

You can send all your media to:

Thank you!
